A Nigerian woman has launched a social media appeal for assistance after her cousin was kidnapped by armed bandits while traveling back to school in Kogi State.
The incident reportedly occurred along Obajana Road, a route notorious for bandit attacks. The victim, a student, was traveling on an 18-seater commercial bus when gunmen struck, abducting all passengers on board, including her cousin.
The family disclosed that the kidnappers have contacted the victim’s mother, demanding a ₦100 million ransom for his release. According to the woman, identified on X as @nana_hauwa, the mother is a widow and cannot meet the hefty demand, leaving the family in distress.
In her post, she appealed to the public for support:
“We are devastated and racing against time. We appeal to kind-hearted Nigerians, friends, and anyone moved by this situation to support us in any way possible—financially, by sharing this post, or through prayers. No amount is too small. Your support could help bring him home alive.”
The abduction has intensified concerns over rising insecurity along major travel routes in Kogi State, with social media users expressing sympathy and urging authorities to ensure the safe return of the abducted student and other victims.
