American track superstar Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has been named the 2025 Female Track Athlete of the Year at the World Athletics Awards.
After a remarkable 2025 season that saw her win two world titles in championship record-breaking times, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has retained her crown as the 2025 Female Track Athlete of the Year at the World Athletics Awards.
The annual awards held in Monaco on Sunday evening saw the American hurdling queen announced as the winner, ahead of her Dutch rival, Femke Bol.
McLaughlin-Levrone shifted focus from her trademark hurdling event to the 400m flat, a change that yielded spectacular results. At the World Championships in Tokyo, she won the gold medal, shattering the long-standing championship record with a blistering time of 47.78 seconds – the second fastest time in history, just behind the world record of 47.60s.

Not resting on her oars, the 26-year-old speed icon anchored Team USA to 4x400m gold medal, also in a championship record and second fastest time in history.
Her historic achievements earned her the coveted award for the second consecutive time, following her legendary 2024 season, which culminated at the Paris Olympic Games, where she set a new world record in the 400m hurdles. It is also her third career win, with her first in 2022.
