United States President Donald Trump has disclosed that arrested Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife are being transferred to New York to face prosecution.
Trump made the revelation on Saturday during an interview with Fox News, stating that both Maduro and his wife were indicted in New York and are now being moved there following their arrest.
According to the US president, the pair were transported by helicopter after being taken into custody.
“They will be heading to New York. They were indicted in New York. They were shipped and will be heading to New York, and they went by helicopter and had a nice flight. I’m sure they loved it,”
Trump said.
DAILY POST reports that Trump earlier on Saturday announced the capture of the Venezuelan leader and his wife, a development that has sparked international reactions.
Following Maduro’s arrest, the United States government formally unveiled charges against him, including allegations related to drug trafficking and terrorism. The case is expected to be prosecuted in New York, where the indictments were reportedly filed.
