The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a suspected fake lawyer over the alleged use of a forged seal of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Lagos.
EFCC confirmed this in a statement posted on its X handle @officialEFCC on Tuesday.
The commission said the suspect was apprehended on Monday, following investigations into allegations of impersonation and forgery.
“The suspect, who operates a legal and educational consultancy in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, came to the attention of the commission after he submitted a petition dated September 22, 2025, on behalf of his clients.
“The petition was against the management of Global West Vessel Specialist Nigeria Limited.
“Further investigations revealed that both the petition and a subsequent letter of withdrawal dated March 5 carried a forged NBA seal,” the statement read.

“During interrogation, he (suspect) claimed he obtained a law degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 2018 through evening classes but did not attend the Nigerian Law School, a mandatory requirement for legal practice in Nigeria, ” it stated.
According to EFCC, the suspect will be charged to court at the end of investigation.
