The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed the Appeal Court’s decision on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) leadership crisis.
The appellate court had a few weeks ago ordered parties in the dispute to maintain status quo antebellum.
Status quo antebellum in judicial terms means the situation as it existed before the dispute.

A three-member panel of the appellate court dismissed the appeal filed by David Mark-led group challenging the Federal High Court’s jurisdiction to entertain the suit by an ADC member, Nafiu Gombe.
In Thursday”s proceeding, the apex court however maintained that the appellate court was right to order parties to return back to the lower court where party leadership tussle exists.
On the issue of jurisdiction, the court faulted the appellant and noted that the apex court has the jurisdiction to entertain appeals from the lower court, citing section 233 of the 1999 constitution.
Parties are now ordered to go back to the Federal High Court on the matter.
