Liam Rosenior calls out his players after defeat to Brighton

The head coach of Chelsea Football Club Liam Rosenior has called out his players for the poor performance they displayed during the defeat against Brighton.

The Englishman was speaking during his post-match press conference at the America Express Stadium on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. According to Rosenior, the game was not just about tactics, but more about the players’ determination, which he felt they did show during the game.

He said,

I am honest with the players. That was an unacceptable performance. You are playing for Chelsea, I am managing Chelsea and if you cannot handle that, you should not be here. The general attitude, spirit determination from three or four of the starting eleven. That’s nowhere near enough for this club. I don’t feel there is a disconnect between me and the players. There is a lack of spirit, a lack of belief that can create that perspective”.

There are reports that Chelsea’s board will have an emergency meeting before the game against Leeds United in the semi-final of the FA Cup to discuss the future of Rosenior.

Chelsea fans will hope the club can sort out it’s current crisis as they look to finish the season on a high in the Premier League and the FA Cup.
