Leading tech media organisation, Technext, has announced the maiden edition of its much-anticipated fintech event, Spotlight by Technext. Set to hold on May 14, the event will feature conversations around the theme: Bridging Trust, Liquidity and User Reality.
Spotlight by Technext brings together 150 leaders in the Nigerian financial technology and insurtech industry into an exclusive space. Here, they would have honest and uncensored conversations about trust and the realities their users face.
The rules are simple: Honesty over performance. There are no panels, no fireside chats, no regulated conversations, no pre-arranged questions. Just 150 leaders confronting uncomfortable truths, giving honest feedback, providing insights and deep analysis around One Big Question. Spotlight by Technext is the fintech conversation Nigeria has been avoiding.
The event, sponsored by Kora, will be moderated under the Chatham House Rules. Key perspectives to be provided by Somtochukwu Ifezue, Co-founder and CEO of Piggyvest; Emmanuel Babalola, Chief Commercial Officer at Fincra; and Renah Osiemi, Managing Director at Zedcrest Wealth.
Providing more insight into the event, Kolibri’s Chief Business Officer, Anderson Ozakpo, pointed out that Spotlight by Technext is not a panel. It is the trigger.
“Four voices, carefully selected to surface real tension. Not for performance, but to force honesty. Within minutes, the conversation shifts from polite to real. From there, the room takes over. What follows is a 55-minute, structured, peer-led discussion. No stage, no hierarchy, just founders, operators, and decision-makers engaging each other directly,” he said.
He further noted that the moderator doesn’t create energy. They simply channel it.
“This is not a fireside chat. Not an interview. Not a panel built for applause. It’s a controlled environment designed to produce clarity, friction, and the kind of insight this ecosystem actually needs,” he said.
There will be an interactive board where attendees can pin their predictions and pain points. There will also be five complimentary special features on Technext worth N342,100 to be won in a draw.
