Watch: Victor Osimhen, Galatasaray hosted by Turkey president after record-breaking Super Lig feat

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen and his Galatasaray teammates were hosted by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan following their Süper Lig triumph, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen is coming off a remarkable campaign with Galatasaray. The 27-year-old Super Eagles star led the club to the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League with an impressive return of seven goals.

In the Süper Lig, he contributed 15 goals and five assists in just 22 appearances. Although he spent significant time on the sidelines due to injury, Osimhen still delivered when it mattered most.

He scored the opener in the second leg of the Istanbul derby in late April, setting the tone for a resounding 3-0 victory. He then spearheaded the Cimbom’s victory over Antalyaspor in the title decider, netting a brace to fuel his side’s thrilling 4-2 comeback win.

His contributions to Galatasaray’s championship run are historic, securing the Cimbom’s fourth consecutive Süper Lig title—a feat achieved only twice before in the league’s history.

Following their Süper Lig victory, the entire Galatasaray squad was honored with a reception by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Osimhen and his teammates, all sharply dressed in suits, were hosted at the Presidential Complex in Ankara. This prestigious reception just shows how much of a significance the team’s achievement is.

Looking ahead to next season, Galatasaray will undoubtedly be hungry to build on this success. If they retain the Süper Lig title one more time, they will become the first club in Turkish football history to win five consecutive championships.

For now, however, Osimhen will shift his focus to international duty. He is set to join Nigeria as the Super Eagles prepare to take on Portugal and Poland in two high-profile friendly matches at the start of June.
